The Lynchburg (Virginia) Police Department has begun transitioning to a new color scheme for its patrol vehicle fleet.

In a press release, the department announced two vehicles with the new color scheme entered service last week. As additional vehicles reach the end of their lifespan, they will be replaced with vehicles with the new branding. Police Chief Ryan Zuidema said the transition is part of an overall rebranding for the department. This is the first vehicle rebranding for the department since the 90s.

"These vehicles will be more visible and recognizable by the general public moving forward, while also enhancing the safety of the officers operating them," Zuidema said.
