The City of La Joya, Texas, Police Department is experiencing serious fleet damage as it assists with border security, according to KENS 5.

La Joya Police Sgt. Joel Villareal told the news source that the terrain, the weather, and the amount of people the department has to transport to U.S. Border Patrol is taking a toll on its patrol units, including the department's ATVs and UTVs. Currently, six of La Joya's patrol cars are out for repair, which amounts to nearly half the fleet.

Villareal added that while department has received assistance through grants for equipment, it hasn’t been able to receive funding to purchase more vehicles.
