The Dallas Police Department (DPD) has a new addition to its aviation fleet — a Bell 407 GX helicopter.

Local businessman Ross Perot Jr. donated the helicopter to DPD during a ceremony in front of Dallas City Hall on Dec. 1. Mayor Eric Johnson and Chief of Police Eddie Garcia were among those in attendance.

DPD said the new helicopter will provide increased operable capabilities, greater critical response, and longer flight times. The department also said the helicopter will be a useful resource for other city departments.
