Mayor Mike Daniels of Plesant Grove, Utah, faced increased scrutiny while seeking reelection for purchasing a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer from the city in 2008 for only $1,800.
City residents cast their ballots in the city election on Tuesday with Daniels seeking re-election for a second term as a write-in candidate.
Daniels claims he purchased the vehicle at auction, but Fox 13 News reported it received documents showing the Trailblazer never made it onto the city's list of surplus items up for auction. The City Council decided to drop the issue.
