Minnesota Fleet Manager Retires After 43 Years with City

Tom Nelson, fleet and facilities manager for the City of Plymouth, Minn., is retiring after 43 years with the city. In this role, Nelson oversees the maintenance and purchasing of 500 pieces of equipment, from loaders and lawn mowers to fire trucks and patrol cars, reported CCX Media.

Nelson has worked for the city since he was 18, operating equipment for the Street Department. His last day is August 29.

The city has hired an outside successor to take over Nelson’s position. The new fleet and facilities manager will start on Sept. 9.
