Despite a weak year overall, December government fleet vehicle sales ended on a stronger note. According to figures released by Bobit Business Media on Jan. 5, 22,242 vehicles were sold in December, up 5.8% from 21,031 in December 2024 [Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota sales numbers were not present for government fleets during this period].
What vehicles fared the best in December? Staying on trend, truck and SUV sales topped the list with 22,242 vehicles sold, compared to the 21,031 sold in December 2024. However, cars were down once again, this time with an 82.8% decrease moving from 203 vehicles sold in December 2024 to only 35 sold last month.
An Overall Look at 2025
Year to date, car, truck, and SUV sales were all down. Car sales saw the biggest hit down 86.2% from 2024. Only 937 cars were reported sold in 2025 while 6,768 were sold in 2024.
SUV and trucks sales were down by 10.9%, going from 267,452 vehicles sold in 2024 to 238,240 sold in 2025. Total sales were down 12.8%, with 239,177 government vehicles reported sold in 2025 and 274,220 sold in 2024.
