PRESCOTT, AR – The City of Prescott plans for a new central garage has far-reaching impacts on city operations, according to The Daily Courier newspaper. Several dozen representatives of various city departments, along with the garage architect and contractor, recently gathered at the proposed site of the new garage on North Virginia Street for the groundbreaking of the $4 million building.
The new building will be close to 24,000 square feet, while the old garage is only 6,000 square feet. The new garage will more than double the number of bays to 10, which will help the fleet maintenance crews better service the nearly 500 vehicles and other pieces of city equipment. The garage will cost about $4 million to build, while equipment costs will add another $327,000, the report said.
