Canadian Extreme Climate Systems' GRIP Idle Management Systems reduces fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as increases a vehicle's lifecycle. The GRIP (Governor to Reduce Idle and Pollution) taps into a vehicle's electronics network via the CAN bus to regulate vehicle functions such as engine revolutions, transmission position, outside temperature, ignition positions, and coolant temperatures. The GRIP uses a sensor to collect data, and provides drivers information on a dash-mounted screen about operating conditions. The system's four main components include a controller, screen, hood pin, and temperature sensor. The system can be expanded with a coolant pump, auxiliary heater, anti-theft device, remote starter, auxiliary air-conditioning, and audible alarm.
