Neb. Utility Expects to Save $50,000 on Insurance
Consolidating its insurance policies will increase the value of the Metropolitan Utilities District’s insured property while lowering premiums and fees.

The Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD), based in Omaha, Neb., will consolidate its insurance policies in a move that is expected to save $50,000 annually. Previously, the water and gas utility’s facilities, equipment, and fleet were covered across six separate policies, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
This change will increase the value of MUD’s insured property while lowering premiums and fees and reducing the cost of deductibles if, for example, a piece of equipment breaks down and causes damage to the fleet facility.
