The Milton Freewater Rural Fire District has recently acquired a new tactical tender from Acela Truck Company. Acela is known for manufacturing extreme-duty, rugged, and military-grade trucks. The truck was displayed outside the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association's Annual Conference in Bend, Oregon, and Government Fleet had the opportunity to inspect it firsthand.
This truck is based on the Monterra 6x6 chassis and is designed to tackle brush fires and floods in rural Oregon, providing reliable performance in the most challenging conditions. The Acela Monterra 6x6 is a completely refreshed and rehabilitated military truck rebuilt to meet the demands of today's public sector fleet needs. Acela's team meticulously cleans and updates the chassis to ensure it's a top-notch truck ready for your fleet.
Originally designed for the U.S. Army to be used in extreme weather and terrain conditions, the Monterra is outfitted with the industry's most dependable components and design features. Its durability ensures that it can handle the toughest jobs with ease.
The Tactical Truck is equipped with 47-inch tires, 22 inches of ground clearance, and an easily adjustable Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS), allowing the driver to adapt to any terrain. With a tank capacity of up to 3,000 gallons of water (Milton uses the 2,500 gallon capacity tank) and a high-water kit, the truck is prepared to operate in flooded areas. This feature is particularly beneficial in emergency situations, such as floods, where it can facilitate safe and swift evacuations.
