As part of National Drive Electric Week 2023, the North Alabama Area Chapter of Drive Electric Alabama hosted an electric vehicle showcase.
The event, which was open to the public, featured over two dozen EVs, brought in by their owners. One EV owner, who's from Ohio, was driving through the area and brought theirs as well.
At the free event, attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from EV owners about what they liked about their vehicles. Representatives from the Tennesee Valley Authority (TVA), which supplies power to Huntsville Utilities, were also in attendance to answer questions about powering EVs.
TVA also had one of its own EVs from its fleet on display: a Tesla Model 3.
Mark Bentley, Executive Director of the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition, organized the event and was onsite to answer any questions attendees had about EVs and other alternative fuels.
Drive Electric Alabama is a statewide coalition dedicated to "improving [the] state through the adoption of electric vehicles." The statewide initiative is coordinated by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
