Ariz. PD Mounts AR-15s on Motorcycles

April 4, 2018

The Tempe (Ariz.) Police Department has begun equipping some of its motorcycle officers with AR-15s. The agency first starting this practice six months ago, and told AZ Central that it is a necessary practice as today’s criminals can also be equipped with military-style weapons.

Eight duty motorcycles, more than half of the motor fleet, have been upfitted with upright mounts for semi-automatic rifles, reports the Phoenix New Times. So far, no motor officers have fired their AR-15.

Just what we arms race between police and the public. An arms race is a race that nobody wins (except the arms manufacturers). If things keep going the way they're going now, it won't be long before police cruisers are replaced by JLTVs and every other street corner has a Bradley parked on it. When will this madness end?
