SANTAQUIN, UT — Santaquin's newly appointed city manager, Stefan Chatwin, will get a city car — but no fuel allowance to go with it, according to the Desert Morning News newspaper. Chatwin will have to buy the gas himself, the city council recently decided. The city has already purchased a 2003 Ford Taurus for Chatwin. If he makes extended trips, Chatwin will have to turn in a travel voucher the same as other city employees. The council's action came in the wake of a gas-and-car scandal in Salt Lake County. Two resigned after admitting using government cars or gas cards for personal use. Chatwin said the Salt Lake County scandal had nothing to do with Santaquin and that he was comfortable with the transportation arrangement the city has worked out.
