Used Vehicle Values Keep Climbing Higher, Manheim Says

The Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index hit a record high for the second consecutive month, as wholesale used-vehicle prices rose 1.1% month over month in June. The increase brought the Index to 129.3, a 2.5% increase from a year ago.

New-vehicle sales through the first six months of 2017 are expected to be down 2.3%, and high quality off-lease vehicles may be part of the reason why, according to Kelley Blue Book.

Vehicle Depreciation to Reach 17.8% in 2017

The vehicle depreciation rate will reach 17.8% in 2017 on 17 million new-vehicle sales, slightly higher than the 17.3% mark recorded in 2016, according to latest forecast from Black Book and Fitch Ratings. Prior to the Great recession, annual depreciation trended between 16% and 18%.

September Depreciation Flat, Truck Segments Show Strength

Used vehicles sold at auction declined 1.5% in value in September — a depreciation pace relatively unchanged from August — in a month that saw relative strength in some truck segments and compact cars continue their slide, according to Black Book.

A small rural Minnesota community has acquired two semi-tractors and a tanker trailer from a state agency to facilitate a partnership with local farms. Cold Spring obtained the equipment for less than $15,000.

Hybrid Resale Values Decline More than 25%

LOS ANGELES – Overall hybrid sales have dropped significantly as a result of the nationwide decline in gasoline prices, with used-hybrid values falling over 25 percent since last summer.

Pennsylvania DA’s Office Sells Large Vehicle Fleet

READING, PA – Berks County’s new Chief Detective, Michael Gombar said he didn’t expect to become a used-car salesman. But Gombar said he had no choice after finding out that the District Attorney’s office owns 51 vehicles for 28 detectives.
