The City of Hemet (Calif.) was able to acquire eight Ford Police Interceptor Utility SUVs for a lower price than expected after an ordering error involving a local dealership.
The city purchased the vehicles from Gosch Ford in Hemet after a delivery error allowed the city to purchase the vehicles at the county's bid price. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department had ordered four-wheel drive vehicles, and front-wheel drive vehicles arrived instead.
The city acquired the front-wheel drive P.I. Utility vehicles for $229,000 using grants from tribal casinos in the area, reports the Press Enterprise.
