Kansas City Officers Disciplined for Shoddy Cars
Three Kansas City (Kan.) Police officers and a civilian employee have been disciplined, after photos of the agency's aging police vehicles appeared on Facebook showing peeling paint, rust, and torn upholstery.

Three Kansas City (Kan.) Police officers and a civilian employee have been disciplined, after photos of the agency's aging police vehicles appeared on Facebook showing peeling paint, rust, and torn upholstery.
The photos of the agency's Crown Vics were posted to the page Police Cars Matter. The move brought at least one suspension, Chief Terry Zeigler told KansasCity.com. The pictures were posted on Sunday and show cars with exposed wiring, loose trim, rust, and peeling paint.
The agency is adding 28 new Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles this year, Zeigler said via Twitter. The new cars will feature new lighting and computer systems, including tablets that will allow the department to use a paperless system.
Zeigler said the department didn't have the funds to paint the cars due to the economic downturn in 2008, and added that officers must maintain the interior condition of the vehicles.
