Texas City Employees Charged with Gasoline Theft

Two former City of Port Arthur, Texas, employees were charged with felony theft by public servant and engaging in organized criminal activity in connection with fuel theft from the city, The Port Arthur News reported.
Investigators conducted a long-term investigation that showed more than $146,000 in fuel was stolen from the city within the past year, a city release stated. Police have arrested one of the defendants, a former streets supervisor who was fired in 2015 after admitting to using fuel cards to steal gas.
Police are looking for the second former city employee, and two business owners are also charged in connection with the fuel theft.
