Longobart Joins City of Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, CA - Rick Longobart has been named facilities and fleet manager for the City of Santa Ana, Calif. Previously, Longobart was Fleet Management and Transit Services superintendent for the City of Inglewood.

In his new role, Longobart leads the City of Santa Ana Fleet Maintenance Division and serves as property manager for the 11.5-acre corporate yard, which accommodates 140,000 square feet of structures and houses staff from three City departments. He oversees approximately 25 employees and an annual budget of over $9,000,000. The city fleet is comprised of 900 vehicles.

Longobart's responsibilities also include data-based decision-making concerning proper departmental vehicle cross charges, vehicle replacement and inventory control, as well as evaluations of shop effectiveness, workload efficiency, and employee performance in order to meet customer expectations and remain competitive with private industry. In addition, he is responsible for researching and identifying alternative-fuel technology and grant funding to transition the City's Fleet Services into an environmentally-conscious, yet cost-effective operation.

LONGOBART

Longobart is currently president of the Municipal Equipment Maintenance Association and was a finalist for the 2009 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year.

The City of Inglewood has not decided a direction on a replacement at this time, Longobart said.
