City of Peoria PD Add “Armadillo” to Fleet

August 6, 2008

PEORIA, IL – Peoria Police are expanding their fleet with a new truck called the Armadillo. However, it’s aimed at drug dealers, according to http://centralillinoisproud.com.

The Nuisance Property Surveillance Vehicle is designed to deter crime by drawing attention to a residence where drug activity is suspected. The vehicle is an old armored brinks truck that was donated to the department. Its shell and windows are bulletproof and a protective metal guard covers headlights and tail-lights. Several cameras inside the truck record outside activity from all angles.
