PASADENA, CA – The WestStart-CALSTART Clean Heavy Duty Vehicle Conference (CHDV 2008), taking place Feb. 20-22, 2008, at the Hilton San Diego Resort in San Diego, is assembling government policy makers, major heavy-duty vehicle and engine manufacturers, and fuel providers and their customers to discuss real-world solutions to these challenges.

This year’s conference, organized by WestStart-CALSTART, the U.S. Army National Automotive Center (NAC), and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), is expected to include as many as 500 attendees. They will get a first-hand, comprehensive look at what’s here and what’s coming next in terms of technology, alternative and clean fuels, regulation and barriers, as well as solutions for clean transportation.

CHDV 2008 is being sponsored to date by Allison Transmission, AVL Powertrain Engineering, Bosch-Rexroth, California Air Resources Board, California Energy Commission, Trillium USA, South Coast Air Quality Management District, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, UTC Power, Fleets & Fuels, and Hart Energy Publishing.

Speakers will include Keynote Opening Speaker Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (invited); Luncheon Speakers Mary Nichols (invited); Chair, California Air Resource Board and California Energy Commissioner, Jim Boyd; and second-day Opening Speaker, Margo Oge, director of Transportation and Air Quality, U.S. EPA.

The conference includes roundtable sessions on international activities on reducing carbon emissions; a fuel industry round table with major oil companies discussing their activities in alternative fuels and dealing with California’s low carbon fuel standard; a discussion by the major heavy-duty truck and bus manufacturers on new clean technologies to meet US EPA lower emission standards for 2010 and beyond; and the latest developments in hybrids.
