Odyne's Hybrid Electric Technology on Display in a Municipal Waste Truck

February 6, 2007

HAUPPAUGE, NY – Odyne Corporation CEO Roger Slotkin was a featured speaker at the kickoff event of the Greater Long Island Clean Cities 2007 Seminar Series, “Alternative Fuels in the Carting Industry.” Slotkin addressed local officials, carting industry executives, and environmental advocates on potential project applications.

Various vehicles were on display at the event, hosted by the Town of Huntington, including a municipal waste truck upfitted with Odyne’s hybrid electric technology for the Town of Hempstead. Also addressing those in attendance were local officials, including program managers for the largest compressed natural gas refuse fleet on the East Coast, the Town of Smithtown, which recently passed requirements mandating clean fuel refuse trucks for its entire fleet, and the Town of Brookhaven, another leader in clean, domestic fuel usage.

Following this event, Slotkin addressed local sanitation officials and presented an overview of the use of hybrid technology at a meeting of the Long Island Sanitation Officials Association (LISOA). LISOA members have become well versed in clean fuel transportation issues through their multiyear association with the Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition. Odyne’s fuel agnostic hybrid electric vehicle system is aimed to meet municipalities’ needs through flexibility of fuel and vehicle choices. The company’s technology can be applied to either new or existing vehicles.

The company is expected to address a similar audience in New York City at a presentation on plug-in hybrid electric vehicles held in conjunction with Nassau Suffolk Truck of Hauppauge, New York.
