Minot, N.D. Police Dept. Hit by Rising Gas Costs

April 19, 2005

MINOT, ND – Minot Police Chief Dan Draovitch noted that the price increase in gasoline has come at a time when the number of calls police handle has been increasing, according to the Minot Daily News.Though the police department doesn't pay fuel taxes and the gas it uses is wholesale, the chief said the price is still more than $1.95 a gallon, putting a strain on the old budget.Capt. Greg Sinclair, commander of the Minot District of the North Dakota Highway Patrol, said the rising gas prices haven't affected his fleet at the present time. Ward County Sheriff Vern Erck said his department runs 18 vehicles, and that he's planning to put more gas money into his budget for next year.
