Mississippi Sheriff to Replace Crown Victorias with Tahoes

TUPELO, MS - Instead of choosing one of the trio of new patrol cars as a replacement for its Ford Crown Vic cruisers, the Lee County, Miss., Sheriff's Department has elected to purchase Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs, reports The Republic.

The eight new SUVs are also better suited for the rugged, rural roads of the jurisdiction, according to Sheriff Jim Johnson. The Tahoes have a larger gas tank and get 15 MPG compared to the 12 MPG delivered by the Ford Crown Vic.
