New Jersey City Univ. Awarded for Fleet Safety by NSC

June 11, 2009

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The National Safety Council (NSC) has recognized New Jersey City University for its significant improvement in fleet safety performance, according to Patrick Bartole, CAFM, fleet manager at the Department of Facilities and Construction Management for New Jersey City University.

The National Fleet Awards Program's Significant Improvement Award acknowledges National Safety Council member organizations with fleets that have reduced their number of preventable collisions a minimum of 20 percent based on a comparison of previous year experience.

The NSC calculates a collision rate using the following formula: collision rate = number of preventable collisions x 1,000,000 vehicle miles driven. New Jersey City University's calendar year 2008 collision frequency rate was 13.28, compared to 68.83 in 2007, equaling an 81-percent reduction in preventable collisions.

Committed to fleet safety, the university also received this prestigious award in 2006.
