The Jefferson City Council (Mo.) approved $5 million to purchase new fire trucks and equipment. This includes a $4.7 million contract with Rosenbauer to replace seven vehicles its frontline fleet, such as pumper trucks, ladder trucks, and one rescue engine. The city will also purchase radios, hoses, and other equipment, reports ABC 17 News.

Generally, the Jefferson City Fire Department replaces its trucks every 20 years, and each truck is kept on the frontline for 10 years before being transferred to reserves. With this contract, the Fire Department is expected to save $460,000 by using a different manufacturer. It also expects to save 15-20% by purchasing all seven vehicles at once.
