W.Va. State Audit Seeks Accurate Vehicle Count
The State of West Virginia is undergoing a fleet audit to determine an accurate vehicle count and to see if it really needs all its vehicles.

The State of West Virginia is undergoing a fleet audit to see if it really needs 7,700 vehicles — it has more vehicles per capita than any of 15 Southern states, the Charleston Gazette-Mail reported.
The Fleet Management Office said new vehicle purchases are trending downward, with 400 vehicles purchased last year compared to 800 vehicles in each of the previous two years.
While the state fleet consists of 7,700 vehicles, there are 10,000 active state license plates and 12,000 vehicles covered by insurance, according to the West Virginia Metro News. An accurate vehicle count could lead to significant savings in insurance costs alone.
The audit is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
