The Seattle Police Department has added 90 Ford Police Interceptor Utility patrol vehicles to its fleet in an ongoing initiative to replace less-fuel-efficient Crown Victoria units.
Drivers of the City of Seattle's fleet vehicles have been regularly overstaying posted time limits in paid parking spots in the downtown area, according to a report from KING 5 News.

Dave Seavey, CAFM, Fleet Management Division director for the City of Seattle, announced that he will retire from the City and will join Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) as its director of fleet operations. Chris Wiley, CAFM, fleet operations manager, serves as interim fleet director.
The Elite Fleets continue to come up with ways to improve their fleets and contribute to the industry,such as focusing on efficiency improvements and technological advancements.
While more women join public fleets on the management side, the number of female technicians remains low. The challenge comes in finding females who have an interest in automotive technology but are just not aware of fleet — and letting them know that whether it’s on the shop floor or in management, there’s a place in the industry for them.
This goal would require a 42% reduction in petroleum-based fuel use when using the amount of fuel the City’s fleet used in 2012 as the baseline.
The City of Seattle is conducting a Police Patrol Car Pilot Project, where 180 officers are testing out six models: Chevrolet Caprice, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Tahoe, Dodge Charger, Ford Police Interceptor sedan, and Ford Police Interceptor utility vehicle.
