During a Mercedes-Benz ride-and-drive event in Los Angeles, attendees drove the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris that joins the full-size Sprinter at Mercedes-Benz dealerships that sell vans. Available as a cargo or passenger van, the new 2016-MY mid-size van will be focused on vocational and fleet markets. It will be available with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with 7-speed automatic transmission.
The Metris will be offered in passenger and cargo van models. Key vocational markets for the cargo van are delivery fleets and service & maintenance applications. The passenger van will target limo, taxi, and shuttle companies. Here is my report based on a recent press preview and test drive.
