Chanje Energy unveiled its Class 5 battery-electric commercial van at an Oct. 18 media and customer event in Fullerton, Calif. Hyundai's first battery-electric car, the Ioniq Electric, has been cut from the same design cloth as its Ioniq Hybrid. As far as range goes, this battery EV would slot in at the front of the second tier behind Teslas and the Bolt EV with 124 miles on a full charge. Read our driving impressions here. Volkswagen's 2015 e-Golf is the automaker's first battery-electric vehicle available in the U.S. market. The e-Golf can operate in three modes with four regenerative braking settings. The BMW i3 electric car, first introduced for the 2014 model year, is an innovative step forward in EV technology with its carbon fiber, plastic and aluminum structure. General Motors introduced its 2014-MY Cadillac ELR, an extended-range electric vehicle (similar to the Volt) slated to go on sale in early 2014. The vehicle features a 1.4L gasoline generator and electric motors for propulsion, and GM said the Cadillac ELR has an all-electric range of 35 miles.
