Purdue University in Indiana is leasing 78 Subaru Legacy sedans and 12 Dodge Grand Caravans to replace its aging fleet. The university is working with Enterprise Fleet Management, which will handle all licensing and registration for the leases.

The new vehicles, offered with unlimited mileage, replace those that are up to 10 years old and are used as daily and long-term rentals, according to Enterprise.

“This lease agreement allows us to free up capital for other university needs and provides us with options while extending our partnership with a local manufacturer [Subaru of Indiana] as well as with Enterprise,” Rob Wynkoop, Purdue’s director of service enterprises, stated in a release. This initiative is expected to free up to $1 million in upfront costs for the university.

This is Purdue’s first time leasing its motor pool vehicles. Eventually, Enterprise will manage a total of 175 vehicles in Purdue’s motor pool.
