The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is asking some local government agencies for help plowing specific state routes while it awaits the delivery of its plow equipment, the Daily Herald reported. Local agencies would be reimbursed.

IDOT was not permitted to purchase new plows and trucks for two years, and some IDOT fleet vehicles were deteriorating due to normal wear and tear. It ordered new equipment this summer, but these can take a year before delivery, the news source reported.
