The City of Toledo, Ohio, partnered with Toledo Public Schools (TPS) and its local union to develop a program that allows students to learn and work in the city fleet, reports WTOL. Through the program, students are paired up with city employees in various departments, including fleet and facilities.

Students are taught soft skills first, then transition into a paid internship. The program is expected to benefit the city, which has had problems with recruitment. TPS’ superintendent told WTOL that 18 students have already signed up to begin work in November.
