A former Bernalillo County (N.M.) Parks and Recreation employee is accused of stealing about $6,500 worth of fuel through county gas cards, the Albuquerque Journal reported.

Nicholas Jones allegedly stole three county workers' Social Security numbers and used them to buy gas cards on county cards he stole from the department's vehicles. The cards were assigned to vehicles, and the Social Security numbers are used for employee identification.

The county fleet manager reported the fuel theft after gas was purchased 123 times at off-site fueling stations during one week, according to the newspaper.
