Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has signed a 2015 budget that requires the state to sell off nearly half of its aircraft fleet that costs the state $7 million each year to operate.
The state will sell off nine of its 21 aircraft under the plan signed July 1 by Quinn, reports the Chicago Tribune.
The total spending plan would allocate $35.7 billion for the coming fiscal year.
