AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has launched a pilot program where it plans to test compressed natural gas-fueled fleet vehicles. TxDOT said the program will begin with the purchase of four CNG-fueled Ford F-250 pickup trucks.

The organization plans to run the pilot around the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex area, and noted that the City of Irving supports alternative-fuel stations where TxDOT can fuel the trucks.

Once the pilot concludes, TxDOT plans to evaluate the program to determine whether it will purchase additional natural gas-fueled vehicles.
