WASHINGTON - The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) expanded the list of alternative-fuel vehicles that can be purchased through the GSA's AutoChoice, the agency's online ordering tool. The agency has expanded the number of "emerging technology" listings from seven last week to 14.

New emerging technology vehicle contracts have been awarded to Central Truck Center, Inc. (electric utility truck, electric stake bed truck, and electric dump truck), Electric Vehicle International (EVI) (electric utility vehicle, two electric walk-in vans, and an electric stake bed truck), and K. Neal International Trucks, Inc. (eStar electric multi-stop van). A new electric truck item has been awarded to RP Automotive for the Boulder EV.

Close-out date for the new vehicles is August 31, subject to change. The full and updated vehicle availability list can be found here.

GSA announced FY-2012 contracts in September 2011. Already on the emerging technology list of available vehicles are the Mitsubishi iMiev, Nissan Leaf, Pure EV, GM Volt, Ford Focus BEV, the Azure Transit Connect, and the Smith Electric Newton.
