BISMARCK, ND - The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) State Fleet Services is purchasing 10 Chevrolet Volts to be placed in its daily motor pools around the state for daily checkout, according to Paul Hanson, CAFM, director, NDDOT State Fleet Services.

Any state agency or university fleet user will be able to make a reservation for the Volt and experience the new technology while conducting state business. Fleet Services plans to evaluate the feedback from the users to determine if the vehicles are a fit within the fleet, Hanson said. The vehicles are expected to be delivered by April 1.

The North Dakota Commerce Department applied for and received federal grant dollars, of which $200,000 is being used for the purchase.

**UPDATE (1/17/12): Hanson reported that the vehicles were delivered earlier than expected. On Jan. 11, 2012, the dealership delivered the 10th Volt to the State fleet.

King County in Washington planned to purchase 20 Nissan Leafs to add to its vanpool, purchasing four in September.
