MARTINEZ, CA – Like many other police departments these days, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s department plans to update its new vehicles to black and white and add new decals.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s department posted on the County’s blog on SFGate.com, some new vehicles are already on the streets. The release stated the County’s 80 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor patrol cars will get the update. The County plans to update the vehicles as they are replaced or when a vehicle undergoes repairs.

The new design will include a seven-point Sheriff’s star and the words “Sherriff” and “Contra Costa County” on the side. The release said the words will be in black lettering, outlined in gold, and the trunk will have the word “Sheriff” on it.
