MANALAPAN, NJ – The Western Monmouth Utilities Authority (WMUA) increased driver productivity by 25 percent, and reduced fuel costs by 10 percent, by integrating a GPS fleet tracking solution (MARCUS Fleet Management solution) from Discrete Wireless.

“A key factor in selecting the Discrete Wireless solution was that they could interoperate with WMUA’s GIS mapping technology with a robust Web Services offering,” said Robert Noel, Special Projects Manager / GIS Manager and Acting Collection System Superintendent for WMUA.

Noel attributes the system’s Idle Alerts to a more productive and cost-effective fleet. “Through user-defined alerts, I can immediately identify when a vehicle has stopped from more than 30 minutes when that’s not a normal idle time for a particular vehicle in our fleet,” Noel added.

Additionally, Noel noted the MARCUS Web application has been reliable; the organization has had no problems with system availability. Moreover, the installation process went smoothly.
