LONG BEACH, CA – The City of Long Beach’s City Council voted against a motion to send out a request for proposal (RFP) to find private contractors to take over the City’s street sweeping services. Originally supported by Council member Gary DeLong, the vote was three in favor, five against.

The City council did approve a substitute measure to direct the city manager to work with employees to review street sweeping operations to improve services and find greater efficiencies.
