WHITE PLAINS, NY - As part of cost-cutting measures, Westchester County is cutting take-home cars for some of its 109 government workers with the privilege, according to The Journal News.

By reducing take-home cars, the County hopes to lower maintenance costs. Seven department heads have already given up take-home vehicles this year.

The departments with the most take-home vehicles were the District Attorney's Office at 41 and Public Safety at 38, which is down from 53. These vehicles are used by investigators, detectives, supervisors, and those on call, the newspaper reported.
