WASHINGTON - To optimize its more than 10,500-unit fleet, the U.S. Department of State has contracted with Chevin Fleet Solutions for a global roll-out of its fleet management information system, FleetWave. The system will replace the department's non-integrated fleet operating systems which had become outdated, according to a release from Chevin.

The State Department will be able to manage its global fleet through a single organization-wide application. Dozens of fleet coordinators will be able to oversee a range of services from the dispatch and management of chauffeured vehicles for diplomats and politicians to vehicles used for embassy security around the world.

FleetWave modules will be used, including vehicle and equipment management, dispatch and motor pool, driver and accident management, maintenance, inventory, and fuel management, according to the release.
