WAVELAND, MS - City of Waveland Mayor Tommy Longo has been accused of allegedly using a city-issued gasoline charge card for personal use, according to WLOX News.

The State Auditor's Office claims Longo illegally used a city-issued gasoline charge card to purchase more than $1,100 worth of fuel for his personal vehicle from September 2008 to August 2009, reported WLOX.

Longo was indicted for embezzlement in late January.

He has since been freed on a $10,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000, WLOX said.

Circuit Court Judge Larry Bourgeois set a trial date of June 21 for Mayor Longo. Longo said he will plead "not guilty" in court, reported WLOX.
