HOUSTON - The City of Houston has awarded a contract to Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., for 10 new custom pumper apparatus units, bringing its total fleet of Ferrara vehicles to nearly 70.

Houston Fire Department, America's fourth largest department with 88 engine companies and 92 fire stations, is responsible for preserving the lives and property of over 2 million city residents, as well as its large industrial base. Ferrara fire trucks have been in service to the City of Houston since 2005.

The trucks will be built on Ferrara Igniter custom chassis, each equipped with a 3/16-inch thick, marine grade aluminum cab and body, according to the manufacturer.
