NORTH TONAWANDA, NY - A recently released 33-page audit calls attention to how Erie County government officials and employees abuse parking privileges, according to the Tonawanda News.

The findings paint the system for assigning parking spaces as more like the "doling out of political spoils" than an equitable use of a county resource. The report cites numerous instances of former employees retaining a spot after transferring or departments being billed for spots when another department uses them.

Several county employees have also been observed placing so-called "official placards" in their windshields to park in no-parking or "official parking" zones on downtown Buffalo streets without getting a ticket, reported Tonawanda News.
