SAN FRANCISCO - The City of San Francisco's gasoline and diesel fuel contract agreement between the City and Western States Oil was approved for up to $25 million Aug. 11.

More than 6,000 vehicles and 700 pieces of equipment, including generators, will be fueled under the contract, expected to consume approximately 9,052,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

In fiscal year 2008, the City spent $24.42 million on gasoline and diesel fuel and $25.43 million in fiscal year 2009. The estimate for the new contract assumes an average price of $2.76 per gallon, reported the Examiner.
