TULSA, OK – Effective June 1, Tulsa police will be allowed to take their patrol vehicles home under a new contract, according to NewsChannel 8. The new contract will also require random drug testing for officers.

Officers who fail the drug test will be re-tested and referred to treatment. If the problem continues, disciplinary actions could be taken to include termination.

The take-home policy keeps neighborhoods safer, according to union officials, as reported by Channel 8.

Drug testing is included in City of Tulsa contracts with Tulsa firefighters, emergency communications, airport operators, and city employees who have a commercial driver's license.
