BROOKSVILLE, FL – County Engineer Charles Mixson must provide a written report on ways to resolve difficulties with the operations of the fleet department by May 29, according to Hernando Today.

County Administrator David Hamilton, who was upset Mixson waited five months into the current budget year to ask for a $350,000 loan to keep the department afloat, said the directive doesn't carry an "or else" tag.

Hamilton said he will wait until the end of May to see if Mixson complies with the report. He wants to see "significant and quantitative" improvements in the entire department - from billing procedures to the purchase of vehicles.

Mixson said he plans to meet the deadline and has already taken steps to improve operations. He said he hired someone in-house to oversee all financial issues and has adjusted the workload of personnel.
