CINCINNATI – Hundreds of vehicles maintained by Cincinnati-based First Vehicle Services will be on hand today to support D.C. Metropolitan Police (DCMPD) efforts for the Inauguration of President Barack Obama.

The fleet includes maintenance of the 12 full-size 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycles that will serve as the official escort for the nation’s 44th President along the Inaugural Parade route.

First Vehicle Services, part of FirstGroup America, has maintained all 1,647 vehicles in the DCMPD fleet since 2002.

In addition to 46 escort motorcycles that always accompany official motorcades in Washington, the Company keeps the availability rate of police cars, K-9 units, the SWAT division and anti-terrorism vehicles at 96.6 percent, high above the industry average.

“We are proud of our role in this historic event,” said First Services President, Linda Bell.

“With a well-maintained fleet, DCMPD officials are able to focus their energy on law enforcement and security rather than worrying about whether they will have enough vehicles available to do their jobs.”

First Vehicle Services is North America’s leading provider of customized onsite fleet maintenance services. Since 1978, the Company has provided diverse fleet maintenance at private fleet, petrochemical, utility and government facilities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
