DALLAS – The General Services Administration (GSA) is expected to announce which bank it will choose to provide its fleet cards.

GSA manages more fleet cards than any agency. Agencies that lease cars and other vehicles from GSA will use the card GSA selects to purchase gas and pay for vehicle maintenance and repairs. Agencies that purchase vehicles must contract with a new card provider on their own, according to http://federaltimes.com.

GSA is the last of the top 10 agencies, as measured by fleet card purchases, to select a bank and credit card company to provide it with new cards under the SmartPay2 contract.

Three banks are competing to provide fleet cards, purchase cards, and travel cards to agencies under the SmartPay 2 contract: Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, and U.S. Bank. The contracts can run until 2018 if all options are exercised.

Agencies must begin using the new cards by Nov. 30. Existing fleet cards will be turned off the night before.
